New features introduced as part of Microsoft Ignite
As part of the Microsoft Ignite Event, Microsoft gave an insight into all the innovations that users can look forward to in the coming period. Part of the event was also dedicated to Power Platform . Microsoft’s low-code platform has been expanded with many new functions that are intended to simplify collaboration and app development, for example. The innovations will initially be introduced in the form of preview versions . We have summarized the most important changes for you below.
Improved collaboration options and more flexible licensing
A new commenting feature makes it easier to collaborate with team members in Microsoft Power Apps . The function is similar to the comment function in Microsoft Word or Excel . You can add comments wherever you want directly in Power Apps . These comments can in turn be commented on by other users. Questions and comments can be answered more easily.
With Pay-As-You-Go there is now also a pay-per-use option for Power Platform Apps . With this option, users no longer need to purchase licenses in advance. Instead, billing is based on the actual number of users per month. To use this payment option and the Power Platform Apps, an Azure subscription is required, which is also used to process the payment. This type of licensing is particularly suitable for users who are already using Azure and cannot accurately estimate the actual license requirements in advance.
New features for Process Advisor and Microsoft Teams
The Power Automate Process Advisor has been enhanced with the preview version of Process Mining. Process mining can be used to identify inefficiencies in business processes. Users can create processes and upload and analyze data from different systems via an easy-to-use interface. The data can then be analyzed using process maps and a variety of filter functions.
In addition, there is now a Power BI app for Microsoft Teams . Data from Power BI can be included in Teams chats, meetings, channels and calendar invitations. This enables, for example, the integration of a scorecard visual for tracking project goals with Power BI Experts.
Creation of mobile apps with Power Apps and improvements for AI Builder
With the preview version of Power Apps mobile apps , users can create smartphone apps. To do this, select one or more Canvas Apps within the Power Apps Studio and add metadata, icons and branding. When your app is ready, you can install it on your smartphone via the App Center. A particular advantage is that you can select multiple canvas apps if required. For example, if you want to make several canvas apps available for a user group, you only have to create one central app. This then serves as a “hub app” for all other apps. The Power Apps Mobile Apps Preview launches on December 1st of this year.
AI Builder also receives further improvements. From now on, companies can use AI models created via the Azure Machine Learning Platform in Microsoft Power Platform via AI Builder. In addition, the Document Automation starter kit accelerates the creation of models for processing forms. With Power Fx , any AI model can now be applied to any control in canvas apps.
