Import PST to Office 365

Today I’m going to show you how you can import PST to Office 365 mailbox. Before that, I’ll mention a few persuasive points that initiate users to import their PST file into Office 365 mailbox or PST to Office 365 migration.

Reasons to upload PST files into Office 365 mailbox

  • First thing first, Office 365 is a cloud-based service, and users can include Microsoft’s core applications within Office 365 subscriptions.
  • Office 365 comes with an auto-update facility which means you will get all the latest features as soon as they get launched.
  • If we compare Office 365’s security with Outlook, it is far away and advanced. You might know Outlook uses the CRC32 algorithm to protect PST files with passwords, and this algorithm can be easily breached using third-party tools.
  • Office 365 has a subscription for all types of users and is cost-effective than Microsoft Outlook.

These are the few reasons for PST to Office 365 migration, now let’s jump into the ways to import PST files to Office 365 mailbox.

How to migrate PST to Office 365 mailboxes:

There are many ways available by using which you can accomplish your Office 365 migration task from Outlook PST. I’ve mentioned the easiest ways here. You can go with anyone.

  1. Shoviv PST to Office 365 migration tool: When it comes to the easiest ways for PST files migration into Office 365 mailboxes, Shoviv’s automated tool is the one that hits my mind first. I have used this time many times to migrate my clients. The tool is very convenient and offers several advanced features to enhance the process.

Steps to import PST to Office 365 mailbox:

  • Firstly, install and open the software on your system.
  • Then, click on the Add PST files option from the ribbon bar.
  • Now choose whether the PST files you’re uploading are corrupt or healthy, and then add PST files to import.
  • Additionally, click on the Office 365 option from the ribbon bar or can also make a right-click and navigate to the Export multiple PST files into >> Office 365 mailboxes.
  • Next will be the check/uncheck wizard. From here, select subfolders of PST files you want to import.
  • In the following wizard, provide asked credentials i.e., User email of admin, and Password of the respective mailbox. Also, you select an already configured Outlook profile as a target.
  • Additionally, map PST files with Office 365 as per your requirement and click Next.
  • Now, the filter wizard will open. You can filter out data on the message class and date range basis. Advanced options like email translation and folder mapping features are also available.
  • Once you complete all the above options, the software will start importing PST files into Office 365 mailboxes.
  1. Outlook’s import/export wizard: It is an inbuilt tool many of you might have used to import PST files into Outlook. It is also an easy way, but I don’t recommend it cause in this way, you can only import a single PST file at a time. Also, there is a risk of human error and data loss.

PST to Office 365 migration using Import/export wizard:

  • Open Outlook and create Office 365 profile in it.
  • Now go to the File tab and select Open & Export.
  • Following, click on the Import/Export and select Import from another program or file
  • In the import, a file wizard, pick the Outlook data file .pst
  • Now browse the PST file you want to import and set other options accordingly.
  • In the following wizard, choose options as per requirements and click Finish.

It is the process to move into Office 365 using Outlook’s inbuilt utility, but as I have mentioned above, by this approach, you can only migrate a single PST at a time. Also, users have to create an Outlook profile of every single Office 365 mailbox in which they want to import PST files.

Wrapping Up:

In this write-up, I have discussed two reliable ways to import PST files to Office 365 mailboxes, both approaches are easy, but to import multiple PST files, you have to go with the Shoviv PST to Office 365 migration tool. In the end, it depends on you what you choose, but choose as per your need and ease.
