Types of Reports
People can break the reports in Sage 50 Payroll down into pre-update, post-update, and historical reports. When you print these, depending on where you are in the process.
Pre-update reports:
- Pre-update reports are a type of report you can use to print values for the records for your current period. The main example of this type is your employees’ payslips.
- The payroll information is easy to find on the navigation bar.
Reports:
- You can find the main Reports folder on the right-hand side of your toolbar. These are often called post-update reports because they show your employees’ yearly data after they have been updated. You can also produce reports to see how much you owe HMRC, and more.
- If you want to produce a tax report from a previous year, make sure the process date is set to the relevant tax year and use that to generate reports.
Historical reports:
There are a few ways to access the records. First, you can sage update error a specific payslip record by going to “Company” on the navigation bar. Second, you can view Historical Data by selecting “View By.”

When you enter one of the report options, a report browser appears. From here you can print, email or export the reports as a file or Excel. You can also edit reports in Report Designer.
You can add the same reports to your favourites each week or month so you don’t have to print them again.
To print a report, click on the star next to the one you want to print. You can easily print from the Favourites option on the main menu bar.

- FPS Liability Report – Shows a breakdown of the values used to calculate your liability to HMRC on the full payment submission (FPS) as well as the company total.
- Payment Summary (Part 1) – Shows a breakdown of pay for the current period from gross to net.
- Payment Summary (Part 2) – Shows a breakdown of the employer and employee national insurance contributions for the current period
